The National Salt Company SALROM is the oldest state owned company in Romania, being the successor of the State Salt Monopoly which was established in 1864. Romania’s and south Europe`s largest salt producer is a company whose majority shareholder is the Romanian state (51%), being classified as a company of strategic interest. The main activity of the company is the exploitation and production of Salt for human consumption, for the Food Industry, for animal feed, Industrial Salt – for the chemical industry, water treatment and de-icing salt.
