CONSORZIO DI TUTELA DEL CARCIOFO DI PAESTUM IGP

Hall 07-08 - Booth G 018

Coexhibitor of CONSORZIO EDAMUS

The artichoke has accompanied the gastronomic and rural culture of the people of southern Italy and Campania in particular. The roots of its cultivation are traced back to the time of the Bourbons, but the real spread of the artichoke in the Sele Valley dates back to around 1929-30. The Protected Geographical Indication 'Carciofo di Paestum' was recognised in March 2004 while the Protection Consortium was recognised in November 2012.
