Conti Vecchi Spa produces, in southern Sardinia, a natural sea salt that stands out for its extremely high quality. The salt pans are the result of an industrial project that was daring and forward-thinking for its times. Salt production began in 1931 and it’s still today a perfect example of harmonious coexistence between nature and human activities. The salt pans are located in one of Europe's most important wetland areas, protected by the Ramsar Convention and part of the Natura 2000 network. The management of water for salt production is essential to maintain the ecosystem balance.
