Coppa di Parma PGI derives from the muscular portion of the neck of highly selected pigs, and obtained PGI certification in 2011. The Protection Consortium was born in 2012: it currently has Fabrizio Aschieri as president and brings together 21 producers, for a sector for over 500 employed between direct employees and workers linked to related industries. Consumer turnover in 2023 was 73 million euros. The volume of certified product exceeded 2 million kilograms. Exports represent 10% of the overall turnover, with Canada as the main importer.
